GAWK: a great tool that works on VMS

For a long time, the GNU version of AWK has run on the VMS operating environment. VMS, or OpenVMS as it is known formally, has been around since 1977. I don’t know when GAWK was first ported to VMS, but the official GNU AWK documentation includes instructions for building GAWK on VMS
